Outdoor activities, learning in nature

Children love being in nature, learning through direct contact with it, learning through their senses and through hands-on activities. And when this experience is shared with their parents, it is even more exciting for them.

Earth Day activities

Our goals are to instill in children lasting habits of protecting nature and its resources. To show them that they have the responsibility to keep the earth clean, because it is our home!

We Celebrated eTwinning and Europe day together

On the day of eTwinning and Europe, all of us - children and teachers working on the project - celebrated together. Although living in different countries, speaking different languages, with different traditions and customs, TOGETHER we celebrated UNITY. During these 5 months of joint work, we proved that when we look in the same direction and have the same goals, we can leave a positive footprint. We were all so beautiful, dressed in traditional national costumes- a true wealth of cultures.

Nature Time – a calendar of green activities

With the children, we created our own calendar of green activities, and for the month of March we included several extremely important initiatives:

-we collected rainwater, which we then used to water the houseplants in our kindergarten;

-we composted - we collected all our food waste in the composter we have in the kindergarten, and we use the biofertilizer for our herbs, flower and vegetable gardens;

-we cleaned the kindergarten yard.

Our activities continue every month, thus forming lasting habits in children and ensuring sustainability of the results.

Rules of the Good Citizens (posters for nature conservation)

Together with the children we created Rules of the Good Citizens. This way children better understood their responsibilities towards society and nature. Every day we have a "Green Patrol" of 2-3 children from the group, who observe and remind the rules if it is needed. We put our poster on our kindergarten`s information board and it is visible for all the children who visit it and also their parents.

Guest appearance of an expert - A parent who is involved in agriculture visited our group. She told the children how important bees and ladybugs are for plants.

Circular Economy Fair - Our goal is to show children that before throwing something unnecessary for us in the trash bin, we can first think about whether it will be needed for someone else to give it to so that they can use it. We can tell our students that making a new toy/book, etc., requires a lot of resources (plastic, wood, paints, etc.), water, electricity, machines, people involved in production. Their recycling also uses natural resources, so it is good to think about other options for extending the life of objects.

Through this activity, we will raise children's awareness of recycling and reuse of objects, as well as involve the family community in the project.
